It's been three weeks since my surgery, and now I'm allowed to lift more than 5lbs, so we WILL be meeting this coming Sunday and all Sundays after that!

Call Daniel if you don't have an Honors ID! (IM/e-mail him for his phone #)

Notice

I'm sorry to tell you, but I have become very sick and may be in need of surgery. Six Strings will be on hiatus until further notice.

YES, SSI is BACK!!

Sundays, 4:30pm in the Honors Lounge in Anne Arundel. Bring your guitars!! (If you don't know, Anne Arundel is the building directly behind the McKeldin Library and up the big hill. The Honors Lounge is in the basement. Walk around to the left side and you'll see a bunch of window-paned doors. You'll have to knock, 'cause you need an Honors ID to get in.)

I'm choosing to use the Honors Lounge now b/c 1) there's nobody ever in there 2) we had trouble with some people at Stamp's Baltimore room before.

Yes, so guitars are a must. So are pens/pencils and paper. Try to get a binder to dedicate to guitar stuff!

For those of you who don't know:

SSI is a guitar club at UMCP mostly targeted at beginner guitar players. It's not quite guitar lessons in the formal sense, but at least one sort of concept will be shared every week. Once fundamentals are established, more focus will be put on improvisation. Veteran guitar players are definitely welcomed, b/c my knowledge pool, I'm sure, gets old after a while. Come share, jam, and hopefully learn a thing or two!

Call me, IM me, e-mail me if you have any questions.

-Daniel

Hey guys, due to most people not being able to make it (not having guitars/Chinese/Korean/Filipino New Year's), we're going to cancel today's practice.

See ya next week!

Hey guys... So, we did a lot today! Here's those licks we went over, and a couple others. These are all in the pentatonic that you should be studying! Note the locations of the licks in repect to the position of the boxes! I tried to design them in a way that would help you remember the boxes and show you what's useful, where. Also, some of these licks move across the boxes. Remember, the box is only there for convention; it should have nothing to do with how the music sounds. After you memorize all the notes, the whole 'box' idea should go away...
